Who we are
The story of Silly Goose Acres really started in 2013 when Spencer and Frannie met in Eldoret, Kenya. At the time, they were both undergraduate students and they fell in love, bonded by their shared value of contributing to their communities, honoring stewardship of the land and living things, and supporting local food systems. At the time, owning a farm was a distant dream. Fast forward through graduate school degrees, careers in Washington, DC, and the birth of their beautiful son, and in 2024, the hunt for a property began.
They fell in love with an unexpected farm in Plainwell, Michigan, which also brought them closer to their families and back to their Midwestern roots. A prolific, wholesale rhubarb patch came with the property. Officially Rhubarb converts, they can now tell you, ad nauseum, about every possible recipe you can make with these versatile stalks.
Grateful to their mentors back in Maryland, New Roots Farm, Silly Goose Acres is applying lessons learned from a four-year internship and in the process of building up their pasture-raised lamb and pork production.
In the summer of 2025, they joyfully welcomed their second baby boy. They welcome visitors and invite you to come sip rhubarb spritzers with them.
